Who am I? part 2

Who am I? part 2

Ok, I promise this will be the last post that looks like the “history of me”. I don’t like writing about myself, but how else would you get to know me, right? My older brother and I grew up going to jr. rodeos. Our family went to rodeos all summer instead of vacations and so of course that’s what we did with our boys. Sorry, boys. My brother was a calf roper. I roped calves, tied goats, and ran barrels until I had my first son. My husband and I taught both of our boys to ride and rope. Jacky, my husband, and my oldest son still team rope. Jacky has worked in the oil and gas industry all of our 38 years together. For the first 24 years he worked onsite which meant he was gone half of the time. He was usually out for 2 weeks, then back for a week so I feel like I was a part-time single mom. I’ll probably share some memories from our days of hauling the boys to jr. rodeos. Those were some of my fondest memories but also some of my most stressful times in life. Here’s a regret–I put them and winning above both God and my husband at that time of my life. I often wonder how different that time would have looked if I would have had my priorities in place.

I enjoyed my career as an SLP. I have some good stories I will share about some of my kids and coworkers. I miss the kids. Now, I help with a children and teenage ministry in the summer at Ruidoso Downs. I get my kid “fix” then. If you are in Ruidoso during the summer come on down to the chapel any morning and you will truly be blessed by our Kids Klub.

You’ll be happy to know that’s about it for my autobiography. I want to leave you with something to think about. I heard this at Bible Study last week.

“There is no victory without a battle.” We all are fighting a battle of some kind so just keep that in mind where you’re deep in the fight.

  1. I’m hooked! So far so good, you’ve done a great job on the physical appearance as well! I especially like quoted scripture.

    1. Thank you, Laura. I feel the same. I have some posts in mind about those days and all the friendships we developed.

  2. I love your journal my friend. You are missed in Midland and I know that there are Godly women in Abilene that want to be your friend. I will see you soon!

Let me know what you think.
